CVSD ASSESSMENT AND DATA
CVSD uses multiple local, state and national measures to evaluate student progress. A CVSD Common Assessment System (CCAS) guides the administration of common assessments throughout the K-8 schools in literacy, math and science and the regular practice of analyzing and responding to data. The CCAS is continually revised to include updated assessments. The chart below lists the assessments currently given to CVSD students at each grade level. Below is additional information and data on state and national assessments.

SBAC
The statewide Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) assessments for English Language Arts and Math assess the Common Core Standards adopted by Vermont. These assessments differ from other state assessments in a few ways:
- The assessments are administered online and go beyond multiple-choice questions to include performance tasks that allow students to demonstrate research, writing, and analytical skills
- Teachers will be able to administer optional interim assessments throughout the school year to monitor progress and adjust instruction
- Accommodations for students with disabilities and English language learners will be built into the system so that the progress of students can be accurately measured.
- An online reporting system will provide clear data on student achievement and growth.
SBAC is administered to CVSD students in Grades 3-8 and Grade 9 in the spring.
Vermont Science Assessment is administered to students in Grades 5, 8, and 11 in the spring.
