• suzan locke  Suzan Locke, HCS Co-Principal K-4

    Suzan Locke is the Pk-4 Principal of the Hinesburg Community School. She has served the HCS community in this role since 2016, bringing with her over 20 years of classroom experience across multiple grade levels. Born and raised in Vermont by two classroom teachers, Suzan pursued a career in education after graduating from Johnson State College with a BA in Elementary Education. She went on to earn her Masters of Education from Southern New Hampshire University in 2003. During her time as a classroom teacher, Suzan served as a Science Teacher Leader for the Hartford School District, a role that led to her active participation in a Professional Learning Collaborative focused on implementing the Next Generation Science Standards. Suzan also served on a committee tasked with designing a mentoring program for new teachers. Fostering a healthy environment for teachers to learn and grow continues to be a passion for her. Suzan was a finalist for the Presidential Awards for Math and Science Teaching in 2014. Suzan lives in Burlington with her husband of over 30 years. They are proud parents of two kids. She enjoys kayaking, hiking, and biking in her free time.

  • tim-trevithick  Tim Trevithick, HCS Co-Principal 5-8

    Tim is a native of Vermont. He currently resides in Shelburne with his wife Megan and their five children. When not working, Tim loves being active outdoors embracing every season Vermont has to offer. He started his educational career 18 years ago at Hyde Park Elementary School in Hyde Park, Vermont. Since then, Tim has had the privilege of working in four different educational settings. He served students and school community members in several roles; as a Health Teacher, SAP Counselor, Assistant Principal, and Principal. This includes ten years at Champlain Valley Union High School where Tim was nominated as CVSD Educator of the Year in 2020. He returned to Champlain Valley School District after spending two years as an Assistant Principal at Enosburg Falls High School. Tim is the 5-8 Principal at Hinesburg Community School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Keene State College (B.A. History), his master’s degree at Johnson State College (M.A. Counseling), and he’s in the process of completing his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Saint Michael’s College in School Leadership.

  • alicia kurth  Alicia Kurth, HCS Director of Special Education 

    Alicia is the Director of Special Education at the Hinesburg Community School, as well as the CVSD Director of Parentally-Placed Evaluations. She has been serving in these roles since 2016, and part of the CVSD community since 2013. She began her career in education as a preschool teacher in Maryland and then had the good fortune to run an early education program on a small island off the coast of North Carolina prior to moving to Vermont. Alicia has since worked in various capacities in Pre-k-Grade 8 systems throughout Vermont for over 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and her M.Ed. from St. Michael's College. She lives in Bristol with her husband, while her two grown kids are off adventuring in New York City and Alaska. In her spare time, Alicia enjoys hiking, kayaking, yoga, and getting lost in a good book.
