Assessment & Data
Assessment is a critical component of educational programming, as it helps capture a comprehensive story of each student's educational journey. The CVSD Common Assessment System (CCAS) plays a pivotal role in this process by evaluating student progress through a framework that incorporates local, state, and national measures. Through the CCAS, common assessments are systematically administered across all K-12 schools in academic areas as well as social emotional skills. This system not only ensures consistency in measuring student achievement but also encourages the regular practice of analyzing and responding to data. Beyond these assessments, we are committed to uncovering the measures that tell the full picture of student growth to ensure that every aspect of a student's educational experience is recognized and supported.
State Assessment: VTCAP/Cognia
Students in grades 3-9 take a statewide common assessment each spring. Most recently, that assessment has been the VTCAP for English Language Arts and Math in grades 3-9 and Science in grades 5, 8, and 11.
The ELA and mathematics assessments measure the Common Core State Standards (CSSS) for English and mathematics, respectively. The science assessment measures the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
