Connect 5

  • Dear Parents,

In a continued effort to ensure seamless communications with our families, the Champlain Valley School District subscribes to a telephone and email communication service. This service, CONNECT5 is used to send a telephone or e-mail message to you providing important information about school emergencies. Typically, we use the notification service to notify you of school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather as well as emergencies via a phone call, and we use email notifications for general information.

What you need to know about receiving calls sent through CONNECT5

    • Caller ID will display the school’s main number when an announcement is delivered.
    • Be sure to say “Hello” when you answer the phone. The technology must hear a voice to deliver.
    • CONNECT5 will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail.
    • If for any reason you need to replay the message, you may press ANY key on your phone, at any point in the message and it will replay the message from the beginning.
    • If you have such things as Telemarketer Zapper or Privacy Director on your telephone lines, you may not receive the call.
    • CONNECT5 does not call extensions. If you have a direct dial number at work, you should provide your child’s school with the direct dial number, not a main number plus an extension.

The ability to deliver a message is only as successful as the contact information we have for families. Please take the time to review and update all the information on the Student Information form that is sent to families at the beginning of each school year. If this information changes at any time throughout the school year, or if you do not want to be part of this notification system, please let your child’s school know immediately.

We are pleased to offer CONNECT5 as a tool to improve parent communication and look forward to having the ability to deliver real-time information to you. In addition, we continue to utilize local radio stations, TV stations, and the school’s website to inform you of school closings or delayed openings.
