•    courtneykrahn  Courtney Krahn, 7/8 Instructional Leader and Assistant Principal 

    Courtney Krahn joins Charlotte Central School after 17 years as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and curriculum leader in middle and high schools in Vermont and Wisconsin. An alumnae of both CCS and CVU, Courtney has fond memories of and pride for the formative years she spent in CVSD. Her professional passions and areas of expertise include curriculum development and alignment, project-based learning, Universal Design for Learning, flexible pathways, and restorative practices. Courtney graduated from Dickinson College (B.A.) and Middlebury College (M.A.), and she is a National Board Certified teacher. She serves on the Board of the Mary Johnson Children’s Center in Middlebury, and she is a member of the Snelling Center for Government’s Vermont School Leadership Project (Class of 2022), which is where she first met Jen Roth. She lives in Cornwall, VT with her husband –  a high school language and literature teacher – and her three kids. She loves hands-on projects, reading and writing, the Vermont State Parks, and new adventures.

  • jen  Jen Roth,  Lead Principal and K-6 Instructional Leader

    Jen Roth is the Charlotte Central School Principal and grade 5-8 Instructional Leader. She has lived most of her life in three states- Illinois, Wisconsin and Vermont.  She received her BA from Trinity College of Vermont, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Saint Michael’s College. She has taught twenty two years in grades Pre-K through high school Special Education and loves staying hands-on in classrooms at CCS.  Watching curious learners make new discoveries or share their understanding with others, inspires Jen.  This summer, Jen began her next chapter of learning in the Vermont Leadership Institute through the Snelling Center for Government. As a mother of four children, life stays busy! She fills her time reading, playing in the garden, spending time on the lake and traveling with family and friends.

  • beth slater   Beth Slater, CCS Director of Special Education

    Beth is the Special Education Director as well as a Special Educator at Charlotte Central School this year. She is starting her 20th year in education and 6th year in CVSD. Prior to that, she worked in Grand Isle for 14 years.  Beth received her undergraduate degree from Keene State in NH.  She received her masters in Special Education from the College of Saint Josephs and completed advanced graduate studies through Saint Michael’s College. She holds a Special Ed endorsement for ages K-21 and Director of Special Education and Principal endorsements. Beth lives in South Burlington with her partner and two children. When Beth is not working, she can most likely be found biking, hiking, skiing, paddle boarding, and reading.
