CVSD Grants
CVSD benefits from a number of federal grants to support our system. A key factor for some of these grants is the desire and need to engage students, families, and community members in decisions about how to best use these funds to support our students. This provides information and opportunities to provide input or ask questions.
Consolidated Federal Program (CFP)
Purpose: Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, is to provide all children significant opportunities to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.
CFP has four Title grants, listed below.

Title I, Part A
Program:
Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies
Purpose:
The purpose of this title is to provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.

CVSD is a “targeted assistance” district, meaning only the schools in the district with Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL) data that is above the district average can receive Title I funding.
Hinesburg Community School and Williston Schools qualify for Title I 2022-23 school year.

In order to improve reading fluency of students in grades K-2 most at risk to not meet state standards, Title I teachers will provide push-in and pull-out intervention services for K-2 Title I students using Reading Recovery, LLI in 1:1 and small groups.

Title II, Part A
Program:
Title II, Part A - Supporting Effective Instruction
Purpose:
The purpose of this title is to provide grants to State educational agencies and subgrants to local educational agencies to -
(1) increase student achievement consistent with the challenging State academic standards;
(2) improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders;
(3) increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools; and
(4) provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.

In order to build teacher capacity to implement proficiency and personalization instructional shifts, instructional coaches to provide embedded professional learning on evidence-based practice

In order to improve literacy instruction and effectiveness of faculty/staff at Lake Champlain Waldorf School (independent school), partner with the Stern Center for training on evidence-based literacy practices and coaching for 8 faculty/staff members and literacy specialists through the Lead to Read program for the duration of the '22-23 school year.

Title III, Part A - English Learners
Program:
Title III, Part A - Language Instruction for English Learners
Purpose:
The purposes of this part are -
(1) to help ensure that English learners, including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement in English;
(2) to assist all English learners, including immigrant children and youth, to achieve at high levels in academic subjects so that all English learners can meet the same challenging State academic standards that all children are expected to meet;
(3) to assist teachers (including preschool teachers), principals and other school leaders, State educational agencies, local educational agencies, and schools in establishing, implementing, and sustaining effective language instruction educational programs designed to assist in teaching English learners, including immigrant children and youth;
(4) to assist teachers (including preschool teachers), principals and other school leaders, State educational agencies, and local educational agencies to develop and enhance their capacity to provide effective instructional programs designed to prepare English learners, including immigrant children and youth, to enter all-English instructional settings; and
(5) to promote parental, family, and community participation in language instruction educational programs for the parents, families, and communities of English learners.

Title IV, Part A
Program:
Title IV, Part A - Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grants
Purpose:
The purpose of this subgrant is to improve students' academic achievement by increasing the capacity of States, local educational agencies, schools, and local communities to -
(1) Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education;
(2) Improve school conditions for student learning; and
(3) Improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.

ESSER
Purpose: ESSER funds are intended to “prepare for, prevent, and respond” to COVID-19. The US Department of Education states that these funds are intended, “to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students,” with a specific emphasis on meeting the needs of underserved student groups and those most significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
