Interested in Being a Substitute?

Champlain Valley School District is seeking substitute teachers, food service workers, bus drivers, custodial staff, and other positions to support our dedicated and caring team of educators. Substitutes earn competitive pay and have the flexibility to choose their own schedules, with opportunities to work at our six schools in Charlotte, Hinesburg, Shelburne and Williston.

Benefits of Being A Substitute:

  • Easy to Apply. Share your interest via our form or SchoolSpring, and we’ll follow up with more information. Substitutes must be 18+ years old, have a high school diploma, and pass a background check. Content-area expertise is helpful but not required.
  • Full Scheduling Autonomy. Choose your own schedule, with opportunities to work full or partial days based on your availability. Most active substitutes in CVSD work five days per month. 
  • Network With Our Educators. Subbing is a great opportunity to learn more about the teaching profession while networking with other professionals. Many substitute teachers go on to earn teaching degrees or work as paraeducators.
  • Support Your Community. CVSD’s six schools are a thriving hub of our community, supporting 3,7000 young people on their educational journey. Substitute teachers, food service workers, bus drivers, custodial staff, and other positions help make this essential work happen.
