Superintendent Search

CVSD Community,

Recently, several school board members hopped on a CVSD school bus (thank you to our bus driver, Marty!) and spent a day visiting our schools. At each school we experienced something special happening – we talked with kindergarteners who were learning to read, we listened to a middle school band class, and we observed educators helping students work through math problems. We spoke with high school students who were creating their own classes based on their interests (like real estate investing and martial arts) and looked through microscopes in the chemistry lab. We saw the food service team prepping fresh broccoli for meals later that day and ate lunch in the CVU cafeteria. Most importantly, our tour offered a tiny glimpse of our students engaged in the learning opportunities we collectively provide within CVSD. It was inspiring.

The day also served as a reminder of the responsibility that we have as a board as we undertake the next steps of our superintendent search. We are committed to overseeing and executing a process to identify the best individual to lead our district as we continue to focus on the growth and belonging of all our students.

To that end, we wanted to provide an update on where we are in CVSD's superintendent search. At this point we have solicited community input and closed the application process. We have also identified and met with the CVSD employees and a community member who will join the board's HR committee in identifying superintendent finalists. Over the coming months, we will interview applicants and follow the process that we have outlined below. We intend to have this process finalized in the early winter.
