As you may remember, last year through a collaborative process, we made the decision to shift our middle level configuration to a 5th-8th grade model. Within this 5-8 model, we made the commitment to developing two new 5-6 teams and two 7-8 teams starting in the 2019-2020 school year. Throughout this school year, we have been slowly, but surely, developing our plan for 2019-2020.
Realizing that 4th - 7th grade families and students are growing anxious to learn more about the changes to our teaming structure for next year. While some of the core decisions (team makeup and locations) are made and simply need to be shared, other processes (like scheduling and student placement) will continue to develop right through the end of the school year.
In order to create understanding and transparency, I would like to invite all interested parents in grades 4-7 to a Middle Level Information Night on Tuesday, April 30th in the SCS library. On that evening I will present the information/decisions, which are part of our plan for next year. I will also do my best to indicate how we will proceed with longer term processes like scheduling and placement. Overall, I think it will be an opportunity to share the work we have been doing and present a clearer picture to parents about the changes ahead for our middle level. It will also be your opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns.
