School Choice

CVSD Intradistrict Elementary & Middle Schools School Choice Program

Children entering grades K-8 who live in the towns of Charlotte, Hinesburg, Shelburne, St. George and Williston may exercise school choice. Our goal is to both allow options for families and also make balanced class sizes to provide a positive learning environment for all of our children. Processes for intra-district choice of school will be guided by the needs of students, space availability, and existing resources. Given this, we will work to meet as many families’ needs as possible.

School Choice Application and Guidelines and Procedures for the 2019-2020 school year.

CVU High School 2019-2020 School Choice Application Process

In 2012, the Vermont State Legislature made school choice statewide by allowing students to apply to attend any other high school in the state.

CVU High School has yet to determine how many spaces will be available via public school choice for the upcoming school year.  If more students apply for school choice than there are slots available, a lottery will be held to select the students who will participate.  Applications must be submitted for each student, a family may not submit a single application to cover multiple students.

If you are interested in applying for school choice, please complete the application (link below) by March 1.  Applications are due to the high school in the district that you reside.
